Laser cut LED running top

BlairRunningTop1
Fashion design student Blair (許亞臻) has created an LED running top that measures the runners movement and synchronises the flashing of the lights to the arm swing. A laser cut outer layer creates a star like effect. The garment helps runners remain safe at night and the flashing rhythm of the lights help maintain a steady pace. The original laser cut pattern was inspired by sheet music for a popular song for accompanying running.

A schematic showing the basic connectivity together with the garment layer containing the LED’s is shown below. A 3-axis accelerometer is used to detect the motion of the runners arm.
