Music gloves, Imogen Heap demonstrates

Imogen Heap gave a brief description and performance of her gloves used to control audio in a variety of ways, on UK TV.

There is clearly a lot going on here, with accelerometers and gyros on the wrist and bend sensors on the fingers, as well as input from a microphone. There have been other attempts at augmenting the body so it can act as a music controller, for example the GypsyMidi controller, however, the gloves appear to be a step up in the range of control offered.

Imogen and her small team are not keeping things just to themselves, there is a kickstarter project to develop the Mi.Mu Glove. Further details of the glove are given on the site, together with the following supporting video explaining the project and its goals. A pledge of £750 gets you a glove with all the components and software, but it is for the adventurous as you do have to assemble it.
