Bright lights on the runway

As part of their 20 year celebrations EasyJet are trialing high tech uniforms and work-wear. Developed with Cutecircuit the clothes are bristling with LED’s and sensors. The integrated electronics provides functionality to support the easyjet team. For the ground staff the LED’s provide safety and lighting to make visible areas during the night. Additionally, the jacket contains a video camera and pollution sensors.

For the cabin crew the LED’s provide information on passengers. This is complemented with a microphone and radio to enable direct communication with the flight deck.

Its not clear if these are just concept pieces or whether they will be used in anger. Hopefully the later, as work-wear is a natural home for electronic clothes, with its focus on functionality.
