Japanese dancers, Wrecking Crew Orchestra have, since 2011, used EL suits to create magical routines that confuse and enthral the visual senses. The BBC have an excellent video piece showing more details of the suits and their future ambitions.
As expected the rapid movement of the dancers means that the garments need constant repair, which over time they have become adept at. The power and control box containing the inverters and wireless receiver is currently quite bulky, but will be redesigned shortly.
