Tired of the pattern on your sneakers, no problem just download another from your smart-phone and update the e-ink display embedded in the shoe. At least that is the concept from ShiftWear and they are asking people, via Indiegogo, to help them develop a prototype and then mass produce the shoes. Future ideas include energy harvesting from walking to power the shoe. Given that an e-ink image requires no power once it is displayed this should be feasible. HD colour displays are also on the roadmap.
It will be interesting to see if the ShiftWear team can develop dynamic displays that match the beautiful ones they depict in the following video. If they could I would certainly be inline for a pair.
