Intel is sponsoring a number of competitions under the umbrella of “Make it wearables”, where they are encouraging enthusiasts to submit 1 minute videos on possible future wearable concepts, either conceptual or more realisable. To promote this Intel have produced a number of videos showing what an exciting, nascent field this is. I’ve included two videos in this post, but check out the web-site to see 3 more.
It is interesting to consider Intel’s motivation for this support. I guess they see the expected growth of wearables as an important processor market that they need to be successful in; something today they are not. With products like Edison based on the Quark technology they are beginning to offer, somewhat belatedly, lower power and diminutive dimensioned processors.
