During the winter semester (Sept 2019 – Jan 2020) an 18 week Electronic Apparel course was delivered to 3rd year fashion design students.
Light and textiles
Part of the course was getting students to experiment with the combination of active light and textiles. As a basis for this they were taught how to use conductive threads to integrate soft electronics with combinations of a switch and LED’s. Using conductive thread is a demanding as it is easy to make a poor contact or have threads short by touching, something that is new to students as textiles are generally more forgiving.
